18th Birthday Oreo Cookie Cake

Christina's Oreo Cookie Cake
I saw pictures of similar cakes on the internet, and decided I wanted to try to make one. The cookie part of the cake is made out of chocolate sponge cake. I used a 10 inch spring-form pan, then cut the cake into two pieces. The inside layer is vanilla sponge cake. I used an 8 inch spring-form pan. I cut the cake into two pieces, and used buttercream for the filling. The cookie part is chocolate buttercream with black Wilton dye. After putting the cake together, I piped the decorations. To support the layers, I used straws instead of dowel rods. I got that idea from the "Cake Bible."
