How Cake Decorating Corner
Came to Be

Theresa HappeHi, my name is Theresa Happe. Everyone calls me Terri. I have enjoyed cake decorating since my first Girl's Scout class at 8 years old.

Growing up, there were never any sweets in my house. We had health store peanut butter and puffed wheat cereal. When my mother was busy, my brother and I played a game we called "sneak a snack and run." I'd mix up a concoction and we'd hide in my brother's closet and eat it. I had a terrible sweet tooth, so once I was old enough to use the oven, I was baking cakes.

When I was 15 years old, I got my first job decorating cakes at Carvel. Later, I decorated wedding cakes at a local gourmet shop.

I went off to college and then just continued making cakes for friends and family, not ever knowing they would play a role in my future. I graduated college with a degree in Literature & Rhetoric, a far cry from cake decorating or building a website.

For several years, I wrote copy for brochures and magazines while working at my father's advertising agency. As the internet took off, I began writing web content. I learned about building and promoting websites in the process.

So, one day, I decided to create a website about my childhood passion. Thus, Cake-Decorating-Corner.com was born. I never thought this site would become as big as it is today, with over 100,000 unique monthly visitors. I couldn't keep up with all the emails, so I created CakesWeBake.com to bring cake decorators together to help one another.

I have made so many incredible friends all across the globe who all share one common interest - the love of cake decorating.  Whether you are just starting out or seeking more information and tips, I hope you enjoy your visit to my sites and look forward to getting to know you better.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed their cake and shared their tips with visitors to this site. It is this generosity that makes this site what it is.

Happy Caking!

Theresa
