Baby Shower Bears
This is a vanilla cake covered with pale yellow buttercream and overpiped piped with a pink butercream sotas design and finished with a shell border.
The baby blanket is made from fondant. I used a dressmakers tracing wheel to make the diagonal lines and squares. I used the ends of two flower plunger pieces to inprint the pattern of the doves & bows onto the blanket. The fringe around the blanket was made using the grass icing tip.
I used the run sugar technique to make the bears and the lettering, then overpiped the clothing on the bears using silver dragees for the necklace. Lettering was overpiped with lattice design and dots. The hydrangeas are sugarpaste and the tiny pink flowers are royal icing.
The cake was a huge hit at the baby shower!
