Barnyard Birthday Cake
I used a homemade basic yellow cake recipe as well as homemade butter cream icing. The barn was made using a house shaped cake pan. The roof of the barn was decorated with the flat side of the basket weave tip. The edge of the roof was made with the same tip using a zig-zag motion, so it created a smooth and ridged decorative trim. The door and the window of the barn were completed with a writing tip and the icing was smoothed flat. The remainder of the barn was completed with the ridged side of the basket weave tip. The white outlining for the window and door was piped in after the barn was completely iced. The base of the cake was completed with a crumb coat of icing and them the "dirt" road and the pigs "dirt" patch were created with crushed chocolate graham crackers. The "grass" was created using the grass/hair tip. The animals and tractor were not edible.
