BBQ Cupcakes

I made 40 buttermilk cupcakes with flavored buttercream frosting for a BBQ recently. I used lemon and orange extract to flavor the frosting. I used a star tip to create the flower like tops of the cupcakes. I colored the frosting to match the flavor, except the purple ones that were just buttercream. I mixed a darker and lighter shade of the same color in the decorating bag so that there was some contrast of color. Oh, and I also squeezed some extra frosting into the center of each cupcake. Everyone really enjoyed them!
