can you use fondant to cover a Sphere shaped cake

I'm making a death star cake from Star Wars and would like to cover it with fondant so it will be easier to fill in the details. IS IT POSSIBLE!! if so whats the easiest way to go about it?

Black fondant?

possible solution for death star cake

Hi! I actually just made a death star cake for my daughter's party. I baked half a sphere for the top and baked another half sphere for the bottom. I covered the top sphere with one piece of fondant and the bottom sphere with another piece of fondant. This method works well for the Death Star because it does have a trench around the middle, so it doesn't really matter if you have a visible line or indention (it actually helps I think). If you are wanting to cover the whole sphere at once then I'm sorry I'm not the person to help (that's what I'm trying to find out myself for another cake :) ). Hope this helps!
