Easy Cake Recipes

I always make this recipe when my kids want cake and I'm pressed for time. This is the quickest cake recipe next to making a cake mix.

Ingredients to make easy cake recipes:

Makes 2 - 8" cakes or 1 - 9" x 13" cake
• 1-3/4 c. cake flour
• 1 c. sugar
• 1/2 c. butter
• 2 eggs
• 1/2 c. milk
• 1/2 tsp. salt
• 1-3/4 tsp. baking powder
• 1 tsp. vanilla

Allow all ingredients to come to room temperature.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Grease, line, and flour cake pans.

In the bowl of an electric mixer, place flour and sugar. Combine on low until blended. Add remaining ingredients and beat for 2 - 3 minutes, scraping down the bowl in between.

Pour batter into cake pans. For 8" cake layers, bake about 30 minutes. If you use a sheet pan, bake 40 - 45 minutes. Remove pans from the oven when a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the cake.

Allow cake to cool 10 minutes in the pans before inverting onto a wire rack to cool. Cakes should be completely cool before frosting.

Easy Chocolate Cake Recipe:

Use the same recipe as above, except replace 1/4 c. of the flour with 1/4 c. of cocoa powder.

Easy Spice Cake Recipes:

Add 1 tsp. cinnamon and 1/2 tsp. cloves to the Easy Cake Recipe.
