I want to make molded figures to put on top of my son's birthday cake. Is it better to use modeling clay or gum paste to make these>

I mix fondant and gumpaste 50/50. The fondant molds the easiest and the gumpaste holds it together the best. I make a "glue" out of a little meringue powder and water. Good luck!
