Floral 4 Tier Wedding Cake

Floral Wedding Cake

Floral Wedding Cake

The bottom 4th tier was made with red velvet cake. The 3rd tier was chocolate cake. The 2nd tier was yellow cake. The final tier was at the request of the bride and groom, strawberry. The icing was a buttercream icing recipe: 1 cup crisco, 1 cup real butter, 1/2 tablespoon vanilla, 1 pound of SIFTED powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk. All ingredients are gradually mixed together.

The flowers are all made of fondant except the roses. Roses were made with royal icing because I just like that look better. No gumpaste was used due to its slight off white color. The bride requested fresh clean, brite white with a background bright pink buttercream icing background.

I spent approximately 2 days making over 250 flowers. Each flower was made to have the 3d appearance. The bottom tier flowers were taken to the reception hall and then placed on the cake. A piping of babies breath were placed in uninhabited space to give the cake it's fully loaded appearance.
