Gravedigger Monster Truck cake

Gravedigger Monster Truck cake

I bought the Wilton 3-D Cruiser Pan, and actually bought the icing at my nearest Bakery to save time! I went by the picture to decorate it, and used 4 french crullers dipped in chocolate for the wheels. I also used dark brown sugar for the dirt, and bought two dollar store trucks for the 'crushing'!

Monster Truck
by: Trish

I wound up using the Wilton 3D car pan, i cut off the back of it and made it a pick-up truck. Then used the donuts as wheels. I was, though, going to bake 2 cakes in the 3d car pan, and cut out the middle of one and insert it into the middle of the other, it would look more like Grave Digger, i made my pick-up red, b/c that's my son's favorite color. I will try to post a picture. Use either wooden blocks or a brick (wrapped, of course) to sit the truck up higher so the wheels fit.

cake to stand up?
by: Anonymous

how do you get the cake to stay up on the donut tires? I tried this and it came out okay but the truck cake had to be flat and the wheels just leaning up against it. Also are those krispy cream or dunken donuts "tires"? They have different sizes of those so I want to be sure. Gonna try this again. Thx!

Love your Cake, would Like to Copy it.
by: Trish

I love your monster truck cake, i am trying to copy it for my son...i have a question, the wilton 3d truck cake pan you used, is it the car/truck cruiser one, i'm having a hard time finding a wilton 3d truck cake pan and i'm just wondering if they discontinued it, that would be my luck! Thanx for any words of wisdom you can give me.
