Hamburger Cake

I created this realistic looking hamburger cake for my son's birthday using a chocolate cake mix, a yellow cake mix, Oreo cookie crumbs, Rice Krispies and Merckens coloured moulding wafers.

I baked two round 8" layers of yellow cake, and one round 8" layer of chocolate cake.
Using melted green, red and yellow/orange moulding wafers I spooned 'lettuce, tomato and cheese slice' shapes onto waxed paper and refrigerated them for an hour. I added a bit of brown food colouring to white icing to ice the top and bottom layers.(Top layer looks a bit darker) Then, icing only the side of the chocolate layer, I rolled it in oreo cookie crumbs.

Assembly: I placed the bottom layer on a plate. Placed some candy 'lettuce' around the edge of it. Placed chocolate layer on top of that. Put some candy 'tomatoes' and 'cheese' around the edge of that layer. Finished off with the top layer. I used Rice Krispies for the 'sesame seeds'.

That is so impressive. My pastor has been wanting me to make a cake just like that for his birthday. Now that I see it can be done and look that great, I guess I'll have to make him one. You did an AMAZING job!1
