Cherry Blossom Branch Cake

Cherry Blossom Branch Cake

My daughter is getting married in March, and she is having a heart shaped cherry blossom branch cake. The girl doing the cake for us has never done one before, but want to try. I suggested using modeling chocolate for the brach itself, but not sure what to use for the flowers. Would like something edible, since there's going to be alot of kids there. The decorator at first wanted to use just silk flowers all around the cake. Please help. I have enclosed a rough pic of what the cake design is going to be like from a picture we found online. My daughters colors are Purple, lavender, and white. Thanks for any help you can be.The only thing that might change on the cake is that the two bottom layers would be stacked. My daughters idea is for the branch to wrap around the cake itself in something eatable. Can this be done?

You have the right idea. Modeling choco would be a good choice. The only other choice would be gumpaste. It is considered edible but most people would not eat it as it dries very hard unless it is very humid.
I suggest putting the bottom two tiers together. I think it would look much nicer.
I am not a fan of tuck N ruffle. Is there a reason for it';s use?
cherry blossoms are an easy flower to pipe or cut from fondant. I see no need for artificial ones. If the decorator can cut out cookies she can cut out the small blossoms from fondant and dry them on flower formers for a slight curved look and a beautiful cake :)
