Icing a sphere cake

My mold is 1 3/4" in diameter. This is a sphere mold. I am using a chocolate cake mix. I would like to use a liquid type frosting or icing to dip this sphere so that it comes out as close to perfect and glossy as possible. I would also like to have all bright colors too! White, black, blue, red, etc. Think of pool balls and that would be perfect!
What recipe would be best and how can I make the shelf life of this icing/frosting stay for about 30 days? If this is even possible. Also, what would help make the shelf life of the cake and a chocolate coating last about this long too? Thank You.
I am new to the cake game.
I wouldn't count on any type of cake lasting this long. If you are just doing this for show, then you can use a styrofoam sphere. Again, if it's for show, you can cover it will fondant. Ganache would create a shiny finish, but over that period of time, I wouldn't want to eat it.
