hi iam wanting to try to royal ice a cake i no u need to marzipan a fruit cake before applying royal iceing. but i will be decorating a sponge cake. could anyone please advise on if i can royal ice a sponge cake without marzipan thankyou for your help..:)
You should be able to ice directly onto the sponge. Putting the cake in the freezer for 10-15 mins helps stop the crumbs mixing into the icing. Add a thin layer and let this dry to trap the crumbs before adding the thicker, final coat
