Mermaid Lagoon

Mermaid Lagoon

This was my First attempt at an all Foundant Cake.
My best friends daughter was having a Mermaid party.

This three layer cake, I used two white cake mixes.
I used 10", 8" and 6" pans for the layers. I made two large batches of Marshmallow Fondant. Took a batch & colored one Yellow and another Flesh Tone. Took a few smaller batches colored them pink, green, and purple.
Made the Mermaid fist sculpted her body & arms. With a sculpting tool, put lines on her tail for the scales.
Painted her tail with sparkle powder purple & teal.
Made her top & colored with the same sparkle powder.
Then made all the other creatures & seaweed for the cake. Made the shell on top & powdered the pearl with the pink sparkle powder.

Took the rest of the Fondant & colored it teal & blue.
Mixed it together & left some of unmixed completely to give a marble look to it. Covered the cake with a buttercream layer & then put the Fondant on top molding to each layer. Added the sea life & Mermaid. Added her hair on last. Took a small paint brush & added her eyes & the occtapus eyes.

The girls loved it & didn't want to cut it. So I offered to take off the Mermaid & I think she is still in the freezer today.

I was pleased everyone was excited about it & it tasted good too.

That's a great looking cake so colorful and the detail she gave the mermaid and sea creatures look like they could swim off the cake.
Very good job!
