modelling moulds

please could someone tell me how to use the flat sheet modelling moulds, not the bendy silicone ones, do I use sugar paste or flower paste? do i feel the whole mould and let it dry, help? I am stuck, I am trying to make a cradle and a baby, I have purchased the moulds but just can't seem to fathem it out?
