ocean scapes cake
To make this cake I used regular white cake mix in a rectangular pan. I set aside a little bit of batter to make a cupcake. Once the cake was cooled I used white icing to cover half the cake, and I frosted the other half of the cake with blue frosting. To create waves in the water, I used a toothpick and ran it through the blue frosting. To create sand, I took the cupcake I had made and crumbled it over the white frosting. Now for the decorations. To complete the ocean theme I bought colorful swedish fish! I stuck the fish on the inside of the cake, I had some sticking out, some laying flat. All and all the ocean was full of colorful fish! I also took a swedish fish, cut its tail and head off, and made a crab! To add to the creativity of this cake, I took circular gummy candies, cut them in half, and lined them up to make a sea monster! Using the same gummy candy, I also placed one next a "sand" castle I made out of cake crumbs to give the appearance of a life raft! For the finishing touches of the cake, I took cocktail umbrellas and placed them around the sides of the cake to complete my beachy theme! This cake was a hit at the party and was fun and easy to make.
