I was wondering what the best method of transferring the outline of a picture of say tinkerbell onto a cake in order to icing the picture into the cake?

The best way I know of is FBCT (Frozen ButterCream Transfer) To do this, simple create your drawing (Tinkerbell). Then mirror it, in case there are any words. Apply a sheet of Wax paper to the top and secure. Now, using a stiff consistency of BC, outline the picture you desire. Place in freezer and let set. Here is the fun part, you can do the entire picture this way, instead of just the outline. Then you have an entire decal to place on the cake, not just the outline. Fill in the areas of the outline with the desired color of BC. I use a BC that is more of a liquid at this point. Much like a coloring book. Place in freezer to let set. When set, usually over night, remove from freezer and place BC side down on your prepared cake. Remove the wax paper ASAP. This will leave your complete image on the cake with a relatively smooth finish.
