Pool Table Cake

hi all cake lovers. so, this was my first cake to decorate all by my self, with the fondant anyways. i didnt think i was ever going to finish, but luckily i made it through. i hope you enjoy my creation and if you are interested in making one, its easier than expected, just REALLY time consuming. if you need any pointers, feel free to contact me.

1. ahead of time, make the pool balls, cue stick and pool rack with fondant. also, you need to prepare your cake stand. if you want it to stand off the table, i used the already made Grecian pillars. they come in different sizes but i used the 5" pillars. make the pool balls with corresponding numbers and colors. also make the cue stick, which i used white for the top and brown for the bottom. insert toothpicks into the cue stick so it would retain its shape. the pool rack is also made of fondant, white, and is simply rolled out and then shaped into a triangle and all is left to harden.

2. make three 9 X 13 cakes however/whatever flavor. after the cakes have cooled, stake two(2) of the cakes with buttercream in between. to make the edge of the pool table, cut the edge off the third cake and place just around the top edge of the cake. cover all with buttercream, mine was a lemon buttercream, but whatever flavor you want is fine.

3. cover the entire cake with white fondant. once the white fondant is layed, go around the middle of the edge around the pool table with a knife to cut out the white fondant and replace it with green fondant. to make the pockets, use the smallest circle cut-out and black fondant. carry the black fondant up and over the side of the pool table where the pockets are to make the outside pocket decoration.

4. you can either rack the pool balls in the rack or have them scattered around the table. either way, the cake is finished and its time to enjoy.
