Preserving Fondant

Preserving Fondant

My sister had a grooms cake made for her now husband at their wedding. It has figures of his favorite band members made out of fondant. My question is.... is there anyway I can preserve those for him?

If I let it dry out naturally will it keep or get moldy?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Jo

If the figures are made of gum paste, they do dry out nicely and stay for a very long time. I have some that I made and the colors have stayed true and they didn't get mold. You could try using shellac, too, if you want to completely seal them.

If it is NOT humid in your area they should dry nicely just left out - be sure they are out of sun and moisture.
After they have dried completely they can be stored in a NON airtight container to keep dust off of them.
