Description
This one bowl yellow cake recipe is so quick to make. The basic recipe is a vanilla cake batter, but you can try out the options for additional flavors.
I always make this recipe when my kids want cake and I'm pressed for time. This is the quickest cake recipe next to making a cake mix.

- Allow all ingredients to come to room temperature.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
- Grease, line, and flour cake pans.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, place flour and sugar. Combine on low until blended. Add remaining ingredients and beat for 2 - 3 minutes, scraping down the bowl in between.
- Pour batter into cake pans. For 8" cake layers, bake about 30 minutes. If you use a sheet pan, bake 40 - 45 minutes. Remove pans from the oven when a toothpick comes out clean from the center of the cake.
- Allow cake to cool 10 minutes in the pans before inverting onto a wire rack to cool. Cakes should be completely cool before frosting.

Use the same recipe as above, except replace 1/4 c. of the flour with 1/4 c. of cocoa powder.
