SNOW GLOBE CAKE
Instructions for making this snow globe cake:
SUPPLIES:
1 6IN LAYER CAKE
1 8IN LAYER CAKE
1 WHOLE BALL PAN CAKE
1 BATCH BUTTER CREAM ICING(FAVOR TO MATCH CAKE FLAVOR)
1 5LB BOX PREPACKAGED OR HOMEMADE FONDANT
1 MINI CHRISTMAS COOKIE CUTTERS-TREE & SNOWMAN
1 12IN SILVER CAKE DRUM
1 ROYAL ICING CHRISTMAS FLOWER(PREPARED EARLIER TO ALLOW DRYING TIME).
ALSO NEED: BROWN, GREEN & BLUE FOOD COLORING.
AND WHITE EDIBLE GLITTER.
1 PAINT BRUSH FOR FOOD(USED TO BRUSH FONDANT WITH WATER FOR GLUEING CUTOUTS TO CAKE....
BEGIN BY MIXING BROWN FOOD COLORING WITH HALF OF WHITE FONDANT. DO NOT OVER MIX..WANT TO END UP WITH WOOD GRAIN EFFECT..THEN PLACE 8IN CAKE ON CAKE DRUM. COVER WITH LAYER OF BUTTER CREAM AND 1/2 OF TINTED FONDANT. TRIM TO SIZE. RETAIN LEFT OVERS. NOW COVER 6IN CAKE WITH REMAINING TINTED FONDANT..AFTER COVERING 6IN CAKE CENTER AND STACK ON 8IN CAKE.
PLACE DOWEL ROD OR PILLAR SUPORT THAT IS ABOUT 2 OR 3 INCHES TALLER THAN THE CAKES THOUGH CENTER..(THIS WILL SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE BALL CAKE(GLOBE ON TOP).
AFTER INSERTING DOWEL INTO CAKE, TAKE REMAINING TINTED FONDANT-ROLL INTO LOG SHAPE(YOU JUDGE SIZE) NEEDS TO WRAP AROUND BASE AND EDGE OF 6IN CAKE LAYER..COVER WHERE LAYERS COME TOGETHER.
AFTER PUTTING TOGETHER GLOBE BASE..
BUTTER CREAM BETWEEN TWO HALVES OF BALL CAKE AND STACK TOGETHER TO FORM BALL(DO NOT PLACE ON BASE YET)
COVER BALL COMPLETELY WITH BUTTER CREAM. SET ASIDE.
DIVIDE REMAINING WHITE FONDANT INTO 3 EQUAL BALLS.
LEAVE ONE WHITE-TINT ONE GREEN AND THE LAST BLUE.
