What is the best way to get a wood grain look on a fondant covered cake? I am making a barrel (like a wine barrel shape) cake.

Old wood trick

I took a treasure chest cake class. To make the trest chest look old, we used the tip of the fondant flower shapers to makes grooves on to the fondant. Then we used two tones of brown to give it the old wooden look. Try it.

When you put your color on the fondant with a tooth pick . put it on in lines. brown and a bit of yellow. Knead it and as you knead it you'll know when to stop .
