Tweety Bird Cake

I taped a picture of Tweety on the bottom of my cookie sheet. I taped a piece of wax paper over the picture. I made a double batch of buttercream icing, then tinted 1/4 black and used tip 5 to outline the picture onto the wax paper. I continued tinting with appropriate colors and used tip 16 stars to fill in the rest. I put a thin layer of white icing on top (which will be the bottom when you flip it onto the cake.) I put it in the freezer. I baked two 8 inch round cakes and cooled completely. I leveled the top and frosted with white buttercream about 1/4 in. thick. Took tweety out, removed tape and very gently flipped him onto the center of the cake. Also, I gently pulled the wax paper off. I did a yellow ribbon border on top edge with tip 104. I did yellow and white stars on the bottom edge. I then used tip 18 stars to fill gaps on the top and have it all one level. Piped tip 16 yellow stars randomly around Tweety.

I love the trick about outlining on wax paper over the picture! And I think it looks smashing!
