Tricks for covering cakes with fondant
by: Waleska Jaquez

You can use any cake. if you are carving the cake defenetly use pound cake other wise you can use any cake, just cool it at least 30min in the refigerator, then iced it and then cover it with fondant, if the cake is 4" high will look better. and make sure the fondant is not too thick because it will bring down the cake if it is very floffly. if is from a box yellow cake that has butter is good. it will add body to the cake.

If you are making a cake and plan to cover it with fondant, you must first apply a thin layer of buttercream frosting before covering the cake with fondant. You can use any kind of cake if you use this method. Good Luck Mary
