Virginia Commonwealth University Acceptance Cake

VCU Ram Cake

VCU Ram Cake

I made a three layer devils food cake with buttercream frosting. I used a template of Rodney the Ram, the mascot for VCU, by using a paper cut out. I had different sections for the different colors of shimmer dust so that the colors would not mix together. I also crushed butterfingers in a plastic bag and pressed them on the side of the cake. This was made for a family member after graduating high school and being accepted into VCU. I have also submitted the cake I made for the graduation. It was made using the same technique.

Go VCU!

You have no idea how refreshing it is to see a beautiful cake with streamlined embellishments. I mean your normal grad cake would be full of garish frosting, curly-qs, etc. I like your restrained sense of style--it's true: sometimes less IS more!
