Happy Fall Y'all Cake

happy fall y'all scarecrow cakeThis Happy Fall Y'all cake was inspired by all those cute crafty little wooden scarecrows people put in their front yards.

His body is made with the Wilton Wonder Mold Pan, his legs are carved from a 7" square cake, his head is molded rice krispie treats and his arms are fondant supported with a wooden dowel.
He is covered and decorated with marshmallow fondant. I hand painted him with a mixture of food coloring and vodka to give him that rustic dirty look. The sign is a fondant-covered piece of cardboard. He was so much fun to make, I almost didn’t want to cut him, but I really wanted a piece of cake!

Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Fall Yall!!!

Fall Harvest Cake

fall harvest cakeTo make this fall harvest cake, I used a 10" and a 6" pan and made an applesauce spice cake. I then iced them in buttercream icing (cream cheese would have been great too). I used tip #3 to put a beaded edge between the two layers. I made the pumpkins out of fondant and made the creases in them by pressing a round toothpick down the edge. I then used a whole clove as the stem. The haystack was made from a cupcake turned upside down and iced with the Wilton Grass tip. Finally, I used silk flowers for the border around the bottom and put a scarecrow pick in the top. Super easy!

Leaf Cupcakes

leaf cupcakesThese leaf cupcakes were made by painting melted chocolate onto real leaves and allowing it to harden. I painted yellow, red, orange and regular chocolate on to the leaf to create the desired effect. Once hard, you just peel the leaf off the chocolate and stick it into the already iced cupcake (iced with icing tip #1M).

Be sure to wash the leaf off first and then dry it thoroughly so the chocolate doesn't repel the water on the leaf. Be sure you don't accidentally use any poisonous leaves from your garden.

The acorn was made by rolling a caramel into an acorn shape and then dipping the tip into melted chocolate and then into chocolate jimmies/sprinkles.

Blessings of Autumn Cake

blessings of autumn cakeThis blessings of autumn cake is a 9" layer spice cake with Buttercream Filling. I covered it with Marbleized Fondant. All decorations, the basket of apples, pumpkins, leaves and scarecrow are made out of Fondant. I hope you like it and Happy Thanksgiving!

To make the leaves look natural, you can knead different colors together. Mix orange and brown or red and yellow. Mix them just a bit and then roll it out. It will blend more as you roll it out. The scarecrows hair can be made by putting fondant through a garlic press if you don't own a clay gun.
